Four awards for the Honesty Entrepreneur category, four for the Honesty Product category and 23 under the Honesty Enterprise category. Ranging from small enterprises to bigger companies, the Keris award was received proudly by the respective recipients who showed integrity, honesty and ethical practices in their business dealings.

“Today’s award is indeed quite unique and meaningful as it recognises and honours companies and enterprises which have demonstrated honesty and integrity in their operations,” said Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah before opening the event.

Abu Bakar, who was also the guest of honour, added that the Keris Award ceremony was unique and unlike any other award ceremonies he had been to.

“Others usually recognise performance in terms of sales revenue, profitability or corporate achievements and today’s recipients proved to be different from the rest,” he said.

International entrepreneurs from China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Hong Kong and the European region were present. As the night progressed with a number of performances, winners were also seen going on stage to claim their awards to loud cheers from the hall.

“I believe many important attributes are necessary for any business to succeed but one important attribute that is absolutely required is honesty,” added Abu Bakar.

He also said that businesses would thrive only if the company practices were honest.

Organising chairman Prof Datuk Dr Albert Tan, in his welcoming speech said although profit was the ultimate goal for all businesses, it paid to be honest. He said the Asia Pacific Top Excellence Brand was one of the largest, most represented and recognised international business awards in the region with nominees from over 13 countries.

“The award has even been called the International Business Oscar Awards by the China Central Television (CCTV) and all our winners are internationally recognised,” he said.

All winners this year were invited by the China Sichuan government to participate in the Second China – Indochina International Economic Corridor Business Forum in Chengdu China on July 27.

Unlike previous years, this year’s award was also held in conjunction with the launch of the Asia Pacific Book of the Top Recognition.

This saw 29 companies recognised in the book for the various categories – Asia Pacific Top Excellence Brand, Asia Pacific Top CEO, Asia Pacific Top Golden Brand Products, Asia Pacific Top Emerging Entrepreneur, Asia Pacific Top Excellence Service, Asia Pacific Top Women Entrepreneurs and Asia Pacific Super Health Brand.

Representatives of all the companies were on hand to receive the recognition at the dinner.
