As the COVID-19 epidemic evolves, IX Telecom has a comprehensive plan to ensure the highest level of security and availability. The rapid spread of the coronavirus presents significant health concerns globally. In light of this, it is crucial to react swiftly, in order to stop the outbreak and reduce further risk. Following the announcement by the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the National Security Council, IX Telecom has immediately activated its Business Continuity Plan and implemented a special working arrangement for all employees.
Remote yet Connected!
The COVID-19 health crisis is a reminder that the well-being of our employees is a high priority. To ensure their safety, we have successfully implemented remote working in IX. Video conferencing has proven to be a fast and secure way to communicate with the team during the outbreak. We ensured all of our employees have the right equipment and connectivity to smooth remote working experience. So far this has proven to be a successful model. We are grateful that our team showed a great understanding of the current situation, and that together we can rise above the challenge. These precautions ensure our employees stay healthy and limit the spread of the virus while serving our clients. We recommend our employees to seek out health services to reduce the risk of exposure to the new virus.
Business Continuity during the Outbreak
As a telecommunications and managed services provider, it is crucial to ensure our business operates as usual without any disruption. We want our clients and partners to experience zero downtime while under our wing, even in times of crisis. Our customer service and helpdesk remain fully operational without any downtime, as well as guaranteed swift responses on our side to any queries. We’re proudly managing our robust services to remain available 24/7 as usual and our network monitoring systems, as well as NOC/vNOC, remain untarnished throughout the outbreak season. Our team is fully equipped to continue to support our clients, even remotely.
Mental Health is Important!
We are navigating uncharted waters with the appearance of this virus. It’s important to take care of our mental health and well-being during this work from the home period. Even though we are remote, we still reach out to support our employees’ emotional and mental well-being. We are available for our staff when they need to talk about fears, to answer all the questions and to reassure them about any other issues.
Tips We Encourage Employees to Practice:
Draw a line between work and home: It’s important to separate your home and your work. Make sure you have a dedicated area for work and nothing else. This will be your office now. And of course, don’t forget to take regular breaks.
Stay connected: Whether it’s a phone or video call, talk regularly to your family and friends. Talking about your fears and concerns with the people you trust is key. It helps to check on each other and provide moral support during these challenging times.
Keep your immune system strong: Your overall health is very important. Take vitamins, eat healthily and avoid too many processed foods. Stay hydrated and get enough sleep. Don’t forget to wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds regularly, or use a hand sanitizer.
Exercise: It’s crucial to keep physically and mentally active. Regularly get up and move around your home. Be it walking or jumping jacks, find what works best for you. Write down your personal goals and work towards it! During times of stress, it’s very important to pay attention to your physical needs and feelings.
Get fresh air: If the circumstances allow, go out and get some fresh air. Be careful to avoid crowds and sick people, and maintain the recommended distance from other people.
Stay updated: Seek current information about COVID-19 from trusted sources, such as the World Health Organization (WHO) or the official website of competent authorities. We encourage our employees to adopt the necessary advice given.
Respond to symptoms: If you are feeling any symptoms that might be associated with the COVID-19, call your primary care provider first and discuss the next steps in care. Wear a mask, and try to avoid contact with others as much as possible.
These are unpredictable times where we need to stay calm, be resourceful, focus on supporting each other and serving our customers.
